Family of daimyo originating in Mikawa and descended from Ohiko, a son of the Emperor Kogen.

Notable Ancestors

  • Abe Masakatsu (1541-1600)

Served Ieyasu, and in 1590 received from him a revenue of 5,000 koku at Ichihara (Izu).

  • Abe Masatsugu (1569-1647)

Eldest son of Masakatsu, was raised to the rank of daimyo after Sekigahara (1600). He established himself successively: in 1600 at Hatoya (Musashi); in 1610 at Shikanuma (Shimotsuke); in 1617 at Otaki (Kazusa); In 1620 at Odawara (Sagami -- 60,000 koku); and in 1623 at Iwatsuki (Musashi).

His descendants established themselves: in 1681 at Miyatsu (Tango); in 1697 at Utsunomiya (Shimotsuke); and finally from 1710 at Fukuyama.
