Early Training

As a child:

You were exposed to cold in winter and taught to endure the heat of summer without complaining
You were sent on many errands which were purposely made difficult
You were sent to cemeteries and places of execution to familiarize you with death and become immune to the chilling sensation the presence of death usually elicits
You were taught to endure physical pain without betraying the slightest emotion
