Branch descended from Yorinobu, 8th son of Ieyasu. It was one of the Sanke, and three Shogun (1716, 1786, 1858) were chosen from among its members.

8th son of Ieyasu. In 1603 received the fief of Mito (Hitachi -- 250,000 koku); in 1606 that of Fuchu (Suruga); and in 1619 he was transferred to Wakayama, where his descendants remained.

Daimyo family descended from Minamoto Mitsumasa, son of Tsunemoto (Seiwa-Genji). In the 15th century Mitsusada settled at Mizuno (Owari) and took the name of the place.
