Daimyo family descended from the Uda-Genji (a branch of the Sasaki); it settled in Izumo, and was in the service of the Amako.

Left Izumo after the overthrow of the Amako, went to Kyoto, and attached himself to Nobunaga, afterwards to Hideyoshi, who bestowed on him the castle of Shikano (Inaba -- 13,000 koku). He took part in the expedition into Kyushu (1587), espoused the cause of Ieyasu, and had his revenues raised to 43,000 koku.

Son of Korenori. In 1617 was transferred to Tsuwano, where his descendants resided.

Branch issued from Kiyotake, son of Tokugawa Tsunashige and brother of the Shogun Ienobu. It resided successively: in 1706 at Tatebayashi (Kozuke -- 50,000 koku); in 1728 at Tanakura (Mutsu); in 1746 at Tatebayashi; and from 1836 at Hamada.
